Care Guide
Materials
Our 18k gold plated and sterling silver plated pieces feature a brass base, finished with up to 3 microns of plating and a protective anti-tarnish coating to help preserve their finish.
Selected styles may also feature cubic zirconia, freshwater pearls, or natural gemstones. For material details specific to your piece, please refer to the individual product page.
Caring for Your Jewellery
With the right care, your jewellery will continue to look beautiful for years to come.
As plated jewellery is naturally more delicate than solid gold or silver, it's important to protect it from everyday wear and moisture.
To help preserve your jewellery:
- Remove your jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping.
- Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, hairspray, cleaning products, and salt water.
- Apply skincare, makeup, and fragrance before putting on your jewellery.
- Store your pieces in their Lustre & Sage pouch or jewellery box when not in use to minimise moisture, scratches, and metal-on-metal contact.
- Keep jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
- Avoid contact with hard or abrasive surfaces that may scratch the plating.
Cleaning Your Jewellery
To maintain the finish of your jewellery:
- Gently wipe each piece with a soft jewellery polishing cloth after wearing.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh polishing compounds.
- Avoid rubbing the plating, as excessive friction can cause wear over time.
A Note on Tarnishing
Over time, plated jewellery may naturally show signs of wear. The lifespan of your jewellery depends on how often it is worn, how it is stored, your skin's natural chemistry, and exposure to moisture or chemicals.
With proper care, your Lustre & Sage pieces can remain part of your collection for seasons to come.
